Larkmead Vets is one of the largest pig practices within the UK offering nationwide first and second opinion visits.
Our independent pig practice is headed up by Julia James and is highly regarded in the industry.We also undertake consultancy visits on behalf of other veterinary practices who require our expertise.

How we can support you
Larkmead Vets believes in a holistic approach to pig health, welfare and production. We target disease, environment and nutritional control strategies to ensure the best outcomes for you and your pigs.
Visits are usually planned on a quarterly basis with an emphasis on preventative veterinary medicine rather than combatting disease outbreaks. At these visits we will discuss all matters relating to unit productivity, health and welfare as they are key to profitable pig farming.
Larkmead Vets supports a wide range of pig owners from international breeding companies to family pet pigs and all those in between. We have particular expertise in outdoor herds and can advise on any area of pig production including the organic pig sector.

Farm trials
We have an excellent reputation within the pharmaceutical industry for undertaking high quality medicine and vaccine farm trials to high ethical standards. This offers our farm clients the opportunity to get ‘one step ahead’ in the control of problems on site.
Education & training
As well as advising on farm our vets frequently give educational presentations at farm and veterinary meetings, they also act as guest lecturers at universities. We work very closely with AHDB to provide high quality stockman training and facilitate at other farming clubs.

RCVS farm practice
Larkmead Vets is also a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons accredited farm practice. This ensures that we remain at the forefront of livestock veterinary medicine and the accreditation is a reflection of the outstanding service that we provide.
