Hi, my name is Izzy, I graduated from the University of Surrey in 2021 and joined Larkmead on their Graduate Programme. After a couple of years, I took a sabbatical to do an internship in orthopaedics and surgery, returning to Larkmead in June 2024. I particularly enjoy all types of surgery and am keen to further develop my skills in this area.
I live with my 19 year old cat Tonto who I’ve had since I was 7 years old. In my spare time I enjoy wildlife photography, skiing, motorsport (including marshalling at Silverstone) and indoor climbing.
Hi, my name is Chris and I am a small animal Veterinary surgeon at Larkmead and became a Partner in 2023. I graduated in 2018 from the University of Liverpool and joined shortly afterwards after having completed a placement at a neutering clinic in India. I am particularly interested in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) as I enjoy all aspects of surgery and plan to undertake a certificate in small animal medicine.
Outside of work I love to watch and play rugby, ski, and enjoy walks with Walter, our black Labrador.
My favourite animal must be a T-Rex although, sadly, we don’t get many of those in the practice!
I joined Larkmead in 2020 as the fourth member of the Practice Co-ordinators management team with responsibility for Front of House and customer care. I have a background in retail and banking and it is very interesting applying these principles to veterinary and working with the great team at Larkmead.
At home I have a tortoise called Alex, two young boys and a daughter who keep me busy!
Hi, I’m Lizzy! When I graduated from Cambridge in 2020, I joined Larkmead as a Small Animal Vet, so have been here my entire career so far.
I am particularly interested in surgery, and am studying for an RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. I also love building a relationship with the same pet and client over time, getting to know their quirks, and seeing good outcomes when managing their health problems. This part of the job is so rewarding but I can’t forget the other wonderful aspects such as the huge variety of general practice; from routine surgery to more complex operations, managing longer term medical cases, helping a beloved pet leave our lives with dignity, or welcoming a new puppy or kitten into the family.
At home my husband and I have three guinea pigs: Ruby, who I rescued when she was pregnant, her friend Delphi, and our newest addition is a neutered boar called Oberon, who was found abandoned in a shoebox! They are my world and enjoy popcorning around their large garden run in summer.
When not spending time with animals at home or work, I enjoy gardening, outdoor swimming, curling up with a coffee and a good book, walking/hiking with family, yoga and painting – I also do pet portraits in oil paints during my spare time.
I graduated from the RVC in 2018 and joined Larkmead that same year. I love working with all my patients: cats, dogs, and chickens! I have an Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice and a particular interest in feline medicine.
I love consulting in the Cat Clinic at our Didcot branch as it’s a very peaceful environment – perfect for nervous or sassy cats. Additionally, I enjoy dental work on my surgery days.
As cats at work are not enough, at home I also have one of my own – Fergus who is a tiny terror. Outside of work I enjoy gaming, baking, and sailing.
I’m Florena and I’m one of the Senior Small Animal Vets. I completed my veterinary studies in 2016 and I joined the team at Larkmead two years later. I am currently working on a post graduate certificate for small animal surgery.
I enjoy working at Larkmead vets due to the wide range of surgical procedures I get to perform; it is very rewarding to see the improvement in the quality of life of my patients after their operations.
At home I have Olaf, my Bichon Frise, a very spoilt and much loved dog. When I’m not walking Olaf, you can find me booking my next travel adventure.
I love discovering new cultures and places and I’m always chasing the sun and summer (that’s one thing I’m still struggling to adjust to in the UK).
I’m Alex Cumiskey, a Partner and Small Animal Vet. After graduating from the RVC in 2005 I joined Larkmead later that year as a Small Animal Vet. I have a special interest in surgical cases, in particular orthopaedics and I have a Cert AVP from the RCVS.
The best thing about my job is the people here! The whole practice team are dedicated to one important outcome, animal wellbeing, as well as helping pet owners get their furry friends on the road to recovery. It is highly rewarding and I love every day.
At home I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and enjoy spending time being active, which is mostly with my 4-legged companions. When I prefer a bit of a quieter day, I will be mostly sampling my homebrew.
My favourite animal is an Ostrich so a bit different from the patients I see every day!
Hi, my name is Laura and I am a Partner at Larkmead as well as a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon. I graduated in 2014 from the University of Nottingham’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, and then joined Larkmead the same year. I became partner at Larkmead in January 2021 and have a particular interest in surgery, completing a post graduate certificate in Soft Tissue Surgery in 2025. I am passionate about consistently developing my knowledge and skills. Many people think of small animals as cats and dogs in our profession, but I am really proud to also be an experienced rabbit vet!
Surgery is the most enjoyable part of my job as its my area of interest and helps me to develop as a surgeon. Naturally, there are sometimes really challenging cases, but nothing beats giving a client good news about their pet’s surgery and making such a huge difference to a client and their pet’s life.
At home I have a dog, called Daphne, and love spending my spare time hiking with her. As well as this, I enjoy creating art.
I’m Sarah Packman and I am one of the Partners at Larkmead Vets as well as being a Small Animal Vet. I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2006 and joined Larkmead Vets shortly afterwards. Throughout my career, I developed my skills in small animal medicine. I am an RCVS Advanced Veterinary Practitioner and I hold a certificate in Small Animal medicine. I am passionate about cardiology, oncology and internal medicine in cats and dogs.
I love my job – I love working in a happy team providing the best care for my cases as well as building long term relationships with clients and their pets.
I have 2 young children at home who take up most of my time, but when I do get some spare time I play the cello in a local orchestra and enjoy walking my dogs CJ and Sadie. I have climbed Kilimanjaro and walked the West Highland Way and The Great Glen way which cover the breadth of Scotland. I have 3 lovely cats (Elsa, Billie and Sarabi) as well as my dogs at home and my favourite animals are elephants.
I am the Managing Partner at Larkmead, having joined the practice in 1998 after 4 years working in my native Yorkshire, graduating from the University of Liverpool in 1994. Although I work across disciplines, my time is mostly spent in surgery (mainly orthopaedics), having undertaken further training and examination in this field and being on the RCVS register of Advanced Practitioners since its inception in 2014.
I am passionate about pet care and creating a practice in which staff love to work and to which clients love to bring their animals.
In my spare time I enjoy playing the cello (including the Wantage Orchestra for 20 years) and have three dogs at home.
