Adelle joined Larkmead Vets in 2007 after she graduated form Bristol University, returning to the local area after having grown up in Wantage. In 2010 she completed her General Practice Certificate in Farm Animal Production and in 2013 she joined the practice partnership team.
Adelle’s main interests are in herd and flock health and production across the ruminant species and she really enjoys working with our farmers to understand and help them achieve their goals and to ensure the best possible standards of health, welfare and productivity on farm. Adelle is a qualified mobility mentor as part of the AHDB Healthy Feet Program and AHDB Mastitis Control Plan Deliverer. Additionally, she is a BCVA Johnes, BVD and TB advisor and has TBAS accreditation. While Adelle’s passion lies in taking a pro-active and preventative approach, emergencies will inevitably occur and she also thoroughly enjoys this sort of work, particularly a successful caesarean section!
Adelle sits on the board of directors at Larkmead so splits her time between large animal clinical work and business leadership and management.
In her spare time Adelle can be found chasing her young children around, running or attempting to watch sport on TV.

Hi, I’m Julia James and I am a Senior Partner at Larkmead, as well as a Large Animal Vet. During my studies at Cambridge in 1996, I joined Larkmead as a student and shortly afterwards came on board full time following my graduation. I specialise in the large animal area of the practice working with a large variety of animals, and clients, on a daily basis.
The best thing about my job is absolutely the clients. Spending time with them on their farms, trying to look after the health and welfare of their herds to benefit them and their business as well and having a good catch up is what makes every day different; worthwhile and so rewarding. I really feel fortunate to be working with such a great variety of people and business owners in my role.
At home I have a cat, Ted, and I enjoy running, swimming – especially in the lake! And I take part in triathlons every so often.
Hi, my name is Bella and I am a Partner and Large Animal Vet here at Larkmead; I graduated and joined the practice in 2016 after completing my degree at the University of Nottingham, school of Veterinary Medicine and Science. I am a passionate large animal vet, and I specialise in dairy fertility and mastitis. I am passionate about career development, so I am currently studying for a diploma in bovine reproduction.
I love the variety of my job, it is the best part, no two days are the same. What’s more, my clients really do make the hard work worthwhile, them as well as their nice cups of tea of course.
At home, I spend time with my Labrador, Molly, and we enjoy lots of long walks together. I’m also an active swimmer.
Hi, my name is Bella and I am a Partner and Large Animal Vet here at Larkmead; I qualified from University in Nottingham in 2016 and have been at the practice since, enjoying the variety of mixed practice. I grew up locally with horses and was a proud member of Woodland Hunt Pony Club. I enjoy all aspects of horse work and have an interest in managing cushings and laminitis but have a soft spot for donkeys.

When working with an equine client it’s great to hear all their news and what they have been doing with their lovely horses. Helping them through the ups and downs of looking after a horse and being there for them, sadly, at the end.
