Gill Strauss BVSc MSc MRCVS

My name is Gill Straus and I am a Vet. I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1992 and joined Larkmead in 2021. I also have a master’s degree in Wild Animal Health, which is a huge passion of mine and something I pursue in my spare time as much as possible.

The best part of my job is connecting with lots of lovely people who are all passionate about animals. From people in the practice to pet owners, it’s so rewarding to spend so much time around people with genuine passion and care for the pets.

At home I have Moby; he is my 1-year-old Labrador and I also have Mog, my cat. My interests outside of work are cycling and travelling as well as further pursuing my passion for wildlife so I enjoy a lot of wildlife photography too.

Ellen Similon MRCVS, DVM, GPCert(FeIP)

Hello! I’m Ellen and I am a Senior Small Animal Vet at Larkmead. I studied at the University of Ghent, Belgium, and graduated in 2002. Straight after qualifying, I came to the UK. In 2021, I became a team member of the fantastic Larkmead Veterinary family.

Although I love all aspects of my job, my main interests are Dentistry as well as Internal Medicine. With a strong bias to our feline geriatric friends. I am really proud to have an ESVPS General practitioners’ certificate in Feline Medicine and Surgery.

The best part of the job for me is the holistic approach of looking after the longevity of our 4-legged friends, without losing sight of quality of life and working with their owners to the best possible outcome.

At home I have a little black cat called Twist and 2 happy hens, Rosemary and Thyme. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, hiking and exploring the UK or abroad. I love immersing myself in art such as music, comedy, film, paintings and sculpture as well as enjoying both cooking and eating. I also like keeping fit to help with the latter.

Sara Rocha MRCVS

Hello! I’m Sara, I come from sunny Portugal and I’m a Small Animal Vet. I graduated in 2018 from ICBAS-University of Porto and joined Larkmead in 2020.

I enjoy being a general practitioner but also have a special interest in dentistry and feline medicine. Being in general practice allows me to use a range of different skills, making each day different and allowing me to learn everyday. Having a really supportive team also makes the job more enjoyable. While I’m not at work I spend my time reading and keeping my indoor plants alive. At home I have Daisy, a lovely black and white cat who loves to chat.

Daniel Gillett BVMSci MRCVS

Hi, I’m Daniel Gillett, a Vet here at Larkmead. I graduated from Surrey in 2020 and joined the practice shortly after. I have a special interest in exotics, so all things scales, feathers, and small squeakers!

I really enjoy the personal development aspect of the job; teaching students and new graduates and helping them develop. It’s so rewarding to me and is different to the other areas of daily work and gives a different type of feel good.

But I also do love the daily variety of general practice.

At home I have a rescue cat called Dot and I enjoy gardening, writing, cooking.

Ginny Greenwood BVMS (Hons) MRCVS

Hello! My name is Ginny Greenwood, and I am a Veterinary Surgeon here at Larkmead. I graduated from the Veterinary School at Glasgow University in 1987 and joined Larkmead in 2006. Although I am a Small Animal vet, so looking after all small animals, I particularly enjoy seeing small furries (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, fancy rats, mice) and hens, but am always happy to see cats and dogs too.

It is a great privilege to spend time with our lovely clients and their animals; a considerable number of whom I have known for many years- and the sheer variety of animals and conditions that I see in a day- no two days are the same! It is very rewarding to care for animals (and their owners) throughout their pets’ lifetime.

At home I have several pets. Currently I have one elderly rescued rabbit Tansy, 3 ex racing pigeons, (Pij, Clarence and Rupert), tropical fish, goldfish, and numerous stick insects. I’ve had over 30 rescue hens over the years as well as over 20 fancy rats too.

I like to keep busy! When I’m not looking after the animals at work or at home, I enjoy gardening especially looking after wildlife as well as spending time restoring my old VW estate and reading.
