DEFRA CONSIDERS INTRODUCTION OF RISK-BASED TB TESTING

DEFRA is considering introducing ‘risk-based TB testing’ to target herds deemed most at risk of spreading the disease in England’s current four-year testing area.

Under the policy, which is being discussed by Defra’s TB Eradication Advisory Group (TBEAG), farmers who regularly bought cattle from the high risk area would be subject to more frequent routine TB testing, for example, annual rather than four-yearly.
