CONSIDER CHANGING TAGS WHILE SORTING SHEEP FOR TUPPING

With new rules on electronic tagging coming into force in January 2015, sheep farmers should be thinking about replacing historic tags with full EID tags when they sort through their ewes this autumn before putting them in with the rams.

Although the rule that all sheep movements be recorded via the new Animal Reporting and Movements Service (ARAMS) was introduced in April 2014, Defra delayed enforcing the rule on historic flock tags (sheep tagged before 2010), until January 1, 2015.
