Receptionist (Small Animal)

We are looking to employ a receptionist to join our friendly team.

This role requires experience with client care or a similar customer facing role. This is a full-time post that would suit someone who puts the client at the heart of their role, not necessarily currently in the veterinary world but definitely in a busy, service focused environment. Full training on our systems will be given to the successful candidate who will be expected to use their own initiative, have a full driving licence and be available to work across all of our branches in South Oxfordshire. This role is full time (40hpw) with 1 in 4 shifts on the weekend rota (a Saturday or Sunday).

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide a friendly, efficient and caring service to clients and their animals.
  • To answer the telephone and take accurate messages.
  • To deal with clients at reception or on the telephone.
  • Be able to enter computer data accurately and appropriately.
  • To handle payments and cash up in line with practice protocol.
  • To assist with the cleaning and tidying of the waiting room, reception area, consulting rooms and pharmacy.
  • To liaise with reception, nursing and veterinary staff.
  • To stock shelves with food and pet products.
  • To participate in training and development activities as required.
  • To attend team and practice meetings as required.
  • To follow correct policies, protocols and procedures.
  • To be efficient, courteous and polite.
  • To be concerned and helpful to colleagues, clients and their animals, under all conditions.
  • To be keen, enthusiastic and willing to learn and an honest and reliable team member.
  • To uphold the Larkmead Values.

Veterinary Practice Assistant (Small Animal)

We are looking for a Veterinary Practice Assistant to join our team. No experience is necessary, but you must be friendly and outgoing, a hard worker who is keen to be part of a team that keeps the behind the scenes hospital clean, tidy and working smoothly. This is a full-time position, and a car driver is essential as you will be required to work across all of our practices in South Oxfordshire. An animal care qualification would be an advantage but is not essential.

Experienced Small Animal Vet

Salary: £50-£65k dependent upon experience

Join a supportive, motivated, and talented team with an extremely loyal client base seeing a wide variety of cases including orthopaedics. Enjoy the freedom that independent practice offers to manage your own cases to an advanced level and ideally you are a certificate holder, or keen to study for one. Small Animal Vet

Salary: £35 to £50k dependent upon experience

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Small Animal)

Due to an expanding nursing team, we have an exciting vacancy for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team, providing care to our patients and assisting the veterinary team.

Larkmead is an independent first-opinion mixed practice based in South Oxfordshire. As an expanding team, we are developing a career pathway for our nursing team and welcome applications from nurses of all levels.

The role is full time, 40 hours per week (including some nights and weekends on a rota basis with time off in lieu) and a full driving licence is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide care and treatment for all patients under clinical supervision
  • Assisting experienced vets in surgery including orthopaedics
  • Assisting vets with the medical care of in-patients
  • To provide support and training to our student nurses
  • Opportunity to engage with nurse clinics and puppy parties for our clients.
  • To ensure high standard of cleanliness in the clinical care areas
  • Taking and running of blood samples using our on-site analysis laboratory
  • Opportunity to progress as a Clinical Coach if desired (training provided)

Large Animal Vet 

This role would suit a vet that is proactive, reliable, and keen to be part of a sociable and friendly team. A successful applicant will share our passion for clinical excellence while recognising the importance of a healthy work-life balance. We will consider applicants of any experience and will provide support to a newer graduate as required, assigning a GDP Certified mentor.

We provide our own out-of-hours service and successful applicants will work a 4.5-day week, 1 weeknight/week and 1 in 4 weekends.

We would also consider vets seeking a large animal-biased mixed role.

There is plenty of opportunity for development; CPD is actively encouraged, we meet monthly for clinical clubs and share the benefits of having multiple certificate and diploma holders within the team.
