We offer a 48 hour repeat prescription service.
Just put your request into reception and providing your pet is under our care you will be able to pick up your prescription in 2 working days.
If your vet has prescribed long term medication for your pet, you will need to be aware of the procedure that Larkmead Vets observes. We must comply with the Veterinary Medicines Regulations Act 2005 and with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons guidelines. For us to continue supplying medication your pet should be examined every 3 months. This is to ensure the drug is proving effective, the dosage is ideal for your pet and there are no undesirable side effects or masking of other conditions.
Between check-ups you will be able to request a repeat prescription. For most medications we require 48 hours (2 working days) notice before collection, although some specially ordered medicines might take a little longer.
There is a charge for the 3 month re-examination. This charge is part of your pets long term treatment and needs to be budgeted for. Please contact us if you would like an estimate of the costs per month for your pets care or if you would like any further information.
Off - Licence Medicine Use
As part of your pet’s treatment we may need to use a medicine ‘off-licence’, this is because there is not always a veterinary licensed medicine available for every situation. Off licence medicines can be use in animals according to the cascade: there are documented dose rates and they are known to be safe, and can be extremely useful when treating your pet.
