About Larkmead Farm Vets
At Larkmead Vets we pride ourselves on providing our farm clients with a proactive, tailor made service to meet their individual business needs. We have over 50 years’ experience in the livestock sector and our dedicated farm team take a proactive approach to health care solutions to keep our customers 'one step ahead'.
From our offices in South Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Newbury we provide high quality healthcare for all types of farm animal, including camelids and game birds. We are a long standing pig consultancy practice and deliver expert advice for both our own clients, and also in response to second opinion requests for pig herds across the UK.
Our out of hours service is covered by our own, dedicated farm animal vet team and we provide emergency cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We do not use any outside agency to do this.
We have 13 members of our farm vet team with many vets holding post graduate qualifications in farm medicine. These include certificates in pig medicine, cattle health and production and general farm animal practice. The team is headed up by the farm animal partners, Julia James, Adelle Isaacs and Max Wood.
Larkmead Vets strongly believe in investing in the future of farming in the UK. As well as encouraging staff development, we also facilitate many on-farm and classroom based training programmes specifically designed for stockmen and women. Most of our vets have completed the LANTRA “train the trainer” course and use this knowledge to help to deliver engaging and informative meetings. Larkmead helps to coordinate the regional dairy herd discussion group alongside DairyCo. We are also a training practice for student vets, a role we feel is important to ensure continued good quality veterinary provision for the future farming generations.
Larkmead Vets joined XLVets in 2006. XLVets is a group of 52 independently owned practices, throughout the UK. We work together sharing experience, knowledge and skills in order to deliver the highest standards of veterinary practice, animal health and productivity.
Larkmead Vets is also a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons accredited farm practice. This ensures that we remain at the forefront of livestock veterinary medicine and the accreditation is a reflection of the outstanding service that we provide.
